Boat Music

So far, music has not been a problem on the boat.  Last year we installed a Fusion marine radio with wired remote in the cockpit that plays through some really nice speakers.  The compelling feature of this radio is that it opens up and accepts any type of iPod and replicates the search features with a dial, making it even more user-friendly than using the iPod itself.  With over 9,800 songs on one of the two iPods on board, our listing method has been to start with songs alphabetically – we just hit H this week at song 3,172.  It’s fun to hear long forgotten songs, or songs you didn’t know you had –we were surprised to find we have seven versions of Girl From Ipanema and we have no idea how Freebird ended up in the iPod.  Quite a few Christmas tunes as well as a fair share of comedy are in the mix.

We were able to enjoy this exhibit of jazz photographer Herman Leonard at the William J. Clinton Presidental Center.  Excellent!

Fitting last words
Later in the day as we crossed over into the state of Mississippi, the sign read "Welcome to Mississippi, birth place of American Music."  If you are interested check out The Mississippi Blues Trail
